Title: Aiding or Abetting

MEMORIZE: Whoever is a partner with a thief hates his own life; He swears to tell the truth, but reveals nothing. Proverbs 29:24

BIBLE READING 2 JOHN 1:10-11

[10] If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him;

[11] for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.

MESSAGE:

To aid and abet is to passively participate in a crime or be an accomplice to a sin; this makes you a sinner. Just as it is in the law of every society, being an accomplice to a crime has grave consequences.

Therefore, as a child of God, you are to stand for the right things and not turn a blind eye to your friend who is committing a sin, otherwise, you are not different from your friend.

If you love your friends, you should not help them to sin by providing them with what is needed. It is a sin to serve alcohol to someone, even if you would not take out of it. It is a sin to give your friends materials to engage in examination malpractice, even though you will not use them.

Bearing false witness is also aiding and abetting because it means you approve of the wrong act a fellow committed. Thus, it is not enough to Say you don’t commit a sin even when Your friends or siblings are doing it. Don’t encourage or cover up for Them: correct them in love and pray for them.

PRAYER POINT

Father, help me not to encourage sin in anyway, in Jesus’ Name.

HYMN 15 – ONWARD, CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS

  1. Onward, Christian soldiers!
    Marching as to war,
    Looking unto Jesus,
    Who is gone before;
    Christ, the Royal Master,
    Leads against the foe;
    Forward into battle,
    See His banners go.

CHORUS
Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
Looking unto Jesus,
Who is gone before.

  1. At the name of Jesus
    Satan’s host doth Ilee;
    On then, Christian soldiers
    On to victory!
    Hell’s foundations quiver
    At the shout of praise:
    Brothers, lift your voices,
    Loud your anthems raise.
  2. Like a mighty army
    Moves the Church of God:
    Brothers, we are treading
    Where the saints have trod.
    We are not divided,
    All one body we
    One in hope and doctrine,
    One in charity.
  3. Crowns and thrones may perish
    Kingdoms rise and wane;
    But the Church of Jesus
    Constant will remain:
    Gates of hell can never
    ‘Gainst that church prevail;
    We have Christ’s own promise-
    And that cannot fail.
  4. Onward then, ye people,
    Join our happy throng;
    Blend with ours your voices
    In the triumph song:
    “Glory, praise and honour,
    Unto Christ the King”,
    This, through countless ages,
    Men and angels sing.
