Title: Do More for God
MEMORIZE: Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; Let Your glory be above all the earth. Psalms 57:11
BIBLE READING PSALMS 145:4-13
[4]One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts.
[5]I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works.
[6]Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts, and I will declare Your greatness.
[7]They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness, and shall sing of Your righteousness.
[8]The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy.
[9]The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.
[10]All Your works shall praise You, O Lord, and Your saints shall bless You.
[11]They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom, and talk of Your power,
[12]To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom.
[13]Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all generations.
MESSAGE
While the government of Nigeria was planning for the 1977 Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC), it occurred to me that since it would be a public holiday, I could gather students to study the Bible, pray, and dance to God instead. I got the approval to organize the program and wrote letters to schools.
However, I needed money to post the letters, not to mention provide feeding and accommodation for the students throughout the duration of the program as stated in the letter. Then, a friend offered his savings of #4,000. However, we still needed more money, so I sold my car.
By the grace of God, the program was successful, and today, it is known worldwide as the RCCG Congress. I was not even the General Overseer then, just a Christian who wanted to lift Jesus’ name above all else.
Beloved, as Christians, you must match and outwit every secular dream. Do everything to ensure that God’s name is praised above all others. If you make a move, God will do the rest.
REFLECTION
What are you doing to propagate the gospel?
HYMNAL: 22 – SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER! SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER!
- Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my want and wishes known;
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief,
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare,
By the return, sweet hour of prayer. - Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
The joy I feel, the bliss I share,
Of those whose anxious spirits burn
With strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place,
Where God my Savior shows His face,
And gladly take my station there,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer. - Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petition bear,
To Him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless;
And since He bids me seek His face,
Believe His word and trust His grace,
I’ll cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer.
