Title: Familiar With God?
Memorize: But as God has distributed to each one, as the Lord has called each one, so let him walk. And so I ordain in all the churches.1 Corinthians 7:17 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 26:1-21 (Nkjv)
[1] Now all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.
[2] He built Elath and restored it to Judah, after the king rested with his fathers.
[3] Uzziah was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jecholiah of Jerusalem.
. . .
Message:
King Uzziah was 16 years old when he succeeded his father, King Amaziah, and He reigned for 52 years as king.
King Uzziah did certain things that greatly blessed the people of Judah because God was with him. He built towers in Jerusalem and the desert and dug wells for his great herds of cattle.
He had farmers and vinedressers to take care of the produce of the land. As a result, the people of Judah had plenty to eat and drink. God also helped him to defeat Judah’s enemies.
However, pride made him overstep the boundaries that God had put in place in the temple.
He wasn’t content with just being king; he wanted to show that he could be a high priest as well, even though it wasn’t a ministry that he was called into. Uzziah became too familiar with God.
My dear child, never get to a point where you get too familiar with God; it is dangerous. God is loving, but He is also a Consuming Fire.
Also, don’t get too familiar with His priests such that you begin to talk to them or about them anyhow. Give honour to whom it is due.
Key Point:
Give honour to whom it is due.
HYMN 45 – O GOD OUR HELP IN AGES PAST
1. O God, Our Help In Ages Past
Our Hope For Years To Come
Our Shelter From The Stormy Blast
And Our Eternal Home
2. Under The Shadow Of Thy Throne
Thy Saints Have Dwelt Secure
Sufficient Is Thine Arm Alone
And Our Defence Is Sure
3. Before The Hills In Order Stood
Or Earth Received Her Frame
From Everlasting Thou Art God
To Endless Years The Same
4. A Thousand Ages In Thy Sight
Are Like An Evening Gone
Short As The Watch That Ends The Night
Before The Rising Sun
5. Time, Like An Ever-Rolling Stream
Bears All Its Sons Away
They Fly Forgotten, As A Dream
Dies At The Opening Day
6. O God, Our Help In Ages Past
Our Hope For Years To Come
Be Thou Our Guard While Trouble Last
And Our Eternal Home
