Title: The Purpose Of His Death II
Memorize: But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. Acts 1:8 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Mark 16:15-18 (Nkjv)
[15] And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
[16] He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
[17] And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
[18] they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Message:
A major purpose of Jesus’ death was so that the Holy Spirit would come to empower us.
In John 16:7, Jesus told His disciples that if He didn’t go, the Holy Spirit would not come.
In John 17:4, when He was praying before His crucifixion, He told His Father that He had finished His assignment, so it was time for the Holy Spirit to come and do His.
Before His ascension, He reiterated to His disciples in Acts 1:8 that the Holy Ghost would come upon them and they would receive power.
In layman’s language, power is the ability to do work effectively. The power you need to fulfil your destiny as ordained by God is in the Holy Ghost.
In Luke 5:10, Jesus Christ informed Peter that he would begin to catch men, and this came into full manifestation three years later when the Holy Spirit came upon him; he won 3,000 souls by preaching just one sermon.
My dear child, are you filled with the Holy Spirit? Without Him, you cannot fulfil your purpose.
Action Point:
Ask for the infilling of the Holy Spirit for the next 30 minutes.
HYMN 16 – PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM JESUS OUR BLESSED REDEEMER
1 Praise Him! praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer!
Sing, O earth, His wonderful love proclaim!
Hail Him, hail Him! Highest angels in glory!
Strength and honor give to His holy name!
Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard his children.
In His arms He carries them all day long.
O ye saints that dwell on the mountain of zion
Praise Him! praise Him!
Ever in joyful song!
2 Praise Him! praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer,
For our sins He suffered and bled and died;
He, our Rock, our Hope of eternal salvation,
Hail Him! hail Him! Jesus, the Crucified;
Loving Savior, meekly enduring sorrow,
Crowned with thorns that cruelly pierced His brow;
Once for us rejected, despised, and forsaken,
Prince of Glory, ever triumphant now.
3 Praise Him! praise Him!
Jesus, our blessed Redeemer,
Heav’nly portals, loud with hosannas ring!
Jesus, Savior, reigneth for ever and ever;
Crown Him! crown Him! Prophet and Priest and King!
Death is vanquished! Tell it with joy, ye faithful,
Where is now thy victory, boasting grave?
Jesus lives! No longer thy portals are cheerless;
Jesus lives, the mighty and strong to save.
