Title: Always On Guard
Memorize: A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. Psalm 91:7 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Psalms 91:1-5 (Nkjv)
[1] He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
[2] I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
[3] Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence.
[4] He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. [5] You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day
Message:
When I was still lecturing at the University of Ilorin, I would usually drive home to eat lunch after my morning lectures.
One fateful day, after my meal, I rested on my couch with my eyes closed.
Suddenly, I felt someone standing above me. The person held my hands and legs and then drew closer to kiss me.
At first, I thought it was my wife, then it suddenly occurred to me that whoever could hold my hands and legs at the same time had to be really tall and strong, so I opened my eyes. Immediately, I saw a strange figure disappear.
After this incident, I felt a cold sensation all through my body, and immediately after my afternoon lectures, I started vomiting and stooling.
When I drove back home, I had to practically crawl out of my car to get into my house.
Then, I asked God why He allowed that to happen to me, His son. He replied, “Son, l just wanted you to have a little taste of the unseen battles I fight for you constantly.”
Beloved, whether you believe it or not, God is working tirelessly behind the scenes for you.
He is always on guard to keep evil far away from you; therefore, be thankful to Him.
Prayer Point
Father, I thank You for being my Defender and fighting many battles on my behalf.
HYMN12 – ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS
1 Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to War,
With the cross of Jesus going on before!
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle, see his banner go!
Refrain:
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of JesUs going on before!
2 At the name of Jesus Satan’s host doth flee;
On, then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise!
3 Like a mighty army moves the church of God:
Brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod;
We are not divided; all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.
4 Crowns and thrones may perish,
Kingdoms rise and wane;
But the church Jesus constant will remain:
Gates of hell can never ‘gainst that church prevail
We have Christ’s own promise and that cannot fail
5 0nward, then, ye people, join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices, in the triumph song;
Glory, praise and honour, unto Christ the King;
This through countless ages, men and angels sing.
