TOPIC: AN ASSEMBLY
MEMORISE: While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. Acts 10:44
BIBLE READING: MARK 2:1-4
1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.
3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
MESSAGE:
The Redeemed Christian Church of God began in the house of my Father in the Lord, Pa Josiah Akindayomi, several years ago.
Christians would meet in his house once every week for evening Bible study and prayers, and they were free to ask any kind of question.
Afterwards, they would eat a meal or some snacks before they dispersed.
By the grace of God, that house meeting grew into 39 parishes that were handed over to me, and now, we have over 200,000 parishes worldwide.
Besides that, we still have house fellowship centres where members meet every Sunday evening.
This is in order to encourage communal relationships in the body of Christ.
Jesus showed us a perfect example of how Christians should relate with one another closely so they can meet one another’s needs spiritually and materially, like the early church did in the book of Acts.
I usually say that having a house fellowship centre in your house is a covering for your family.
When you constantly meet with God on that altar, satan cannot come into your home
ACTION POINT:
Rather than worry, pray in Jesus’ name, and the problem will be solved.
HYMN 22 –
SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER! SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER!
1 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
that calls me from a world of care,
and bids me at my Father’s throne
make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
my soul has often found relief,
and oft escaped the tempter’s snare
by thy return, sweet hour of prayer!
2 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
the joys I feel, the bliss I share
of those whose anxious spirits burn
with strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
where God my Savior shows his face,
and gladly take my station there,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
3 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
thy wings shall my petition bear
to him whose truth and faithfulne
engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since he bids me seek his face,
believe his word, and trust his grace,
I’ll cast on him my every care,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
