Title: The Lord’s Prayer
Memorize: And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. Matthew 6:5 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Matthew 6:9-13 (Nkjv)
[9] In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
[10] Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.
[11] Give us this day our daily bread.
[12] And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.
[13] And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
Message:
While He was on the earth, Jesus knew the importance of prayer; He prayed often and also taught His disciples how to pray in today’s Bible reading.
Your prayers to God should consist of the following components: honoring Him, seeking His will, requesting daily provision, asking for forgiveness, and requesting protection from evil.
My dear child, when you say, “Our Father who art in heaven,” you acknowledge the privilege of calling God, the One who loves you unconditionally, your Father.
As you continue to pray, saying, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven,” you surrender your desires to God’s perfect will, trusting His plans for your life.
When you ask, “Give us this day our daily bread,” you express your dependence on God for physical and spiritual sustenance.
As you forgive those who trespass against you, you express the freedom that comes from releasing grudges and embracing forgiveness.
Finally, as you pray, “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,” you seek God’s guidance and protection in the face of trials and temptations.
My beloved child, you will enjoy tremendous blessings from your heavenly Father if you follow the pattern of prayer that Jesus taught.
Key Point:
The Lord’s Prayer is not a mere recitation but a heartfelt dialogue with your heavenly Father.
HYMN 16: PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM JESUS OUR BLESSED REDEEMER
1 Praise Him! praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer!
Sing, O earth, His wonderful love proclaim!
Hail Him, hail Him! Highest angels in glory!
Strength and honor give to His holy name!
Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard his children.
In His arms He carries them all day long.
O ye saints that dwell on the mountain of zion
Praise Him! praise Him!
Ever in joyful song!
2 Praise Him! praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer,
For our sins He suffered and bled and died;
He, our Rock, our Hope of eternal salvation,
Hail Him! hail Him! Jesus, the Crucified;
Loving Savior, meekly enduring sorrow,
Crowned with thorns that cruelly pierced His brow;
Once for us rejected, despised, and forsaken,
Prince of Glory, ever triumphant now.
3 Praise Him! praise Him!
Jesus, our blessed Redeemer,
Heav’nly portals, loud with hosannas ring!
Jesus, Savior, reigneth for ever and ever;
Crown Him! crown Him! Prophet and Priest and King!
Death is vanquished! Tell it with joy, ye faithful,
Where is now thy victory, boasting grave?
Jesus lives! No longer thy portals are cheerless;
Jesus lives, the mighty and strong to save.
