Title: Everyone Needs Good Friends
Memorize: A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (Nkjv)
[9] Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor.
[10] For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up.
Message:
Today’s memory verse tells us that there are some friends that stick closer than a brother. Everyone needs those kinds of friends. If you want to make friends with people, show yourself friendly to them first. Indeed, some people do not have friends because they do not show themselves as being friendly.
Whether you believe it or not, everyone needs a good friend. Today’s Bible reading tells us that when a fellow who has no friend falls, there will be no one to lift him. Take note that the word, ‘when’ was used, not if’, which means that everyone will have times when they will need someone to lift them. God forbid that there is no one to lift you when you need help.
My dear child, you must, however, choose your friends carefully because, as iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17), so does evil communication (bad company) corrupt good manners (1 Corinthians 15:33). Everyone needs good friends, and the best friend that you can have is our Lord Jesus Christ. Surrender your life to Him today if you have not done so, then you can also become His friend (John 15:15).
Key Point:
You should be friendly if you want to make good friends.
HYMN 27: What A Friend We Have In Jesus
1 What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
2 Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
3 Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield
