Title: Young and Powerful
Memorize: Now before him there was no king like him, who turned to the Lord with all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the Law of Moses; nor after him did any arise like him. 2 Kings 23:25 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Proverbs 3:5-6 (Nkjv)
[5] Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
[6] In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Message:
Imagine a scenario where you did not contest for elections, but somehow, you became the president of your country. How would you feel? Josiah was crowned king at the tender age of eight and had a great responsibility thrust upon his young shoulders. He inherited a kingdom that was prevalent in idolatry and disobedience but in (2 Chronicles 34:27), he got a positive response to his prayers as he humbly sought the face of the Almighty God.
When I became the General Overseer of RCCG at the age of 39, I faced great opposition from some elderly people in the church. They felt I was inexperienced and too young to lead a denomination they started while I was not yet born again. I did not fight them or become rude to them; instead, I ran to God in prayers.
My dear child, if you are privileged to lead a team of people, including those who are older than you, you must turn to the wisdom of God’s word and embrace the power of prayer to lead you through the trials and tribulations that may arise in the course of leadership.
Key Point:
You need God’s wisdom and power to lead.
Hymn 18: Guide me, O Thou Great Redeemer
1 Guide me, O my great Redeemer,
pilgrim through this barren land;
I am weak, but you are mighty;
hold me with your powerful hand.
Bread of heaven, bread of heaven,
feed me now and evermore,
feed me now and evermore.
2 Open now the crystal fountain,
where the healing waters flow.
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
lead me all my journey through.
Strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer,
ever be my strength and shield,
ever be my strength and shield.
3 When I tread the verge of Jordan,
bid my anxious fears subside.
Death of death, and hell’s Destruction,
land me safe on Canaan’s side.
Songs of praises, songs of praises
I will ever sing to you,
I will ever sing to you.
