Title: No Room For Depression
Memorzie: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God Philippians 4:6 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: 1 Kings 19:1-8 (Nkjv)
[1] And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, also how he had executed all the prophets with the sword.
[2] Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.”
[3] And when he saw that, he arose and ran for his life, and went to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.
[4] But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he prayed that he might die, and said, “It is enough! Now, Lord, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers!”
[5] Then as he lay and slept under a broom tree, suddenly an angel touched him, and said to him, “Arise and eat.”
[6] Then he looked, and there by his head was a cake baked on coals, and a jar of water. So he ate and drank, and lay down again.
[7] And the angel of the Lord came back the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you.”
[8] So he arose, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights as far as Horeb, the mountain of God.
Message:
Depression is a deep sense of discouragement and sadness, which is often linked with a loss of interest in life.
I have also been depressed before, especially when I lost my son, but one day, while praying, a daughter of mine abroad sent me a text message that read, “Daddy, let God carry you.”
Gradually, I realised that depression was one of satan’s strategies to bring people down.
That was what he did to Prophet Elijah when he sent Jezebel to threaten the man of God.
Elijah became so depressed and asked God to kill him, but God sent him food instead.
Believe me, depression is a form of demonic oppression that may lead to suicide if it is not checked quickly, and anyone who commits suicide will go to hell because God commanded that no one should kill.
Beloved, are you at a point where you feel that all hope is lost?
I am sending God’s word to you today, assuring you that you will live and not die.
I decree that an end has come to your sorrow today, in Jesus’ name. My dear child, arise and shine!
Prayer Point:
Heavenly Father, please carry me in Your everlasting arms.
HYMN 64: WHEN UPON LIFE’S BILLOWS YOU ARE TEMPEST TOSSED
1 When upon life’s billows you
are tempest tossed
When you are discouraged,
thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings,
name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what
the Lord hath done.
Chorus
Count your blessings,
name them one by one;
Count your blessings,
see what God hath done;
Count your blessings,
name them one by one,
Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.
2 Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, ev’ry doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.
3 When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised
you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings, money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.
4 So, amid the conflict,
whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.
