Title: Judge Not
MEMORIZE: Judge not, that you be not judged. Matthew 7:1 (NKJV)
Bible Reading: Matthew 7:3-5 (NKJV)
[3] And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?
[4] Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye?
[5] Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
Message:
Your attitude to one who has made a mistake matters a lot. When someone commits an offence, the responsibility lies on you who is still standing spiritually to point out the error to the fellow in love. tell him/her about repentance, and follow-up on his/her rededication to God- not spitefully judge the fellow.
If you condemn or speak spitefully to an offender, you are not any better than the fellow. Someone may ask, “What if I judge the fellow in my thoughts and not in words?” This is also a sin because you are supposed to correct the person in love with the aim of helping him/her get back to the place of fellowship with God and other brethren.
Thus, if you have a friend who has stopped going to church or is backslidden, visit the fellow today, encourage and pray for him/her, and don’t join others to tag him/her as a sinner. Remember, you are not perfect, and if you judge anyone, you will also be judged.
Key Point:
Don’t condemn; instead correct in love.
HYMN 19: JESUS LOVES ME! THIS I KNOW
- Jesus loves me! this I know,
For the Bible tells me so;
Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak, but He is strong.
CHORUS
Yes, Jesus loves me,
Yes, Jesus loves me,
Yes, Jesus loves me,
The Bible tells me so.
- Jesus loves me He who died,
Heaven’s gate to open wide,
He will wash away my sin,
Let His little child come in. - Jesus loves me, loves me still,
Tho’ I’m very weak and ill
From His shining throne on high
He will watch me where I lie. - Jesus loves me He will stay
Close beside me all the way,
If I love Him when I die
He will take me home on high.
