Title: Not Today Satan!

Memorize: You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4 (NKJV)

Bible Reading: 1 PETER 5:6-11

[6] Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,

[7] casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

[8] Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

[9] Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.

[10] But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

[11] To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Message:

One benefit of Jesus’ death and resurrection is victory over sin. This is something every believer has access to, however, it does not eliminate trials and temptations.

Thus, the slogan ‘Not today Satan’ is not just a statement: it is an attitude that makes you declare victory over sin and Satan.

It is important to bear this slogan in mind because there will be times when you would feel dejected, inadequate, angry, or want to defend yourself against opposition in an unthinkable manner. You have to tell the devil “not today” because you have won by the grace of God.

Whenever the flesh wants to dominate you, remember and speak the word of God, then flee. By so doing. you’re resisting the devil and emphasizing that he does not have a hold on your life.

Action Point:
In your moments of despair or temptation, declare: ‘not today, Satan’.

HYMN 15 – ONWARD, CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS

  1. Onward, Christian soldiers!
    Marching as to war,
    Looking unto Jesus,
    Who is gone before;
    Christ, the Royal Master,
    Leads against the foe;
    Forward into battle,
    See His banners go.

CHORUS
Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
Looking unto Jesus,
Who is gone before.

  1. At the name of Jesus
    Satan’s host doth Ilee;
    On then, Christian soldiers
    On to victory!
    Hell’s foundations quiver
    At the shout of praise:
    Brothers, lift your voices,
    Loud your anthems raise.
  2. Like a mighty army
    Moves the Church of God:
    Brothers, we are treading
    Where the saints have trod.
    We are not divided,
    All one body we
    One in hope and doctrine,
    One in charity.
  3. Crowns and thrones may perish
    Kingdoms rise and wane;
    But the Church of Jesus
    Constant will remain:
    Gates of hell can never
    ‘Gainst that church prevail;
    We have Christ’s own promise-
    And that cannot fail.
  4. Onward then, ye people,
    Join our happy throng;
    Blend with ours your voices
    In the triumph song:
    “Glory, praise and honor,
    Unto Christ the King”,
    This, through countless ages,
    Men and angels sing.
