Title: The Benefits of Helping Others
Memorize: For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. Hebrews 6:10 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 3:11-14 (Nkjv)
[11] Then the Lord said to Samuel: “Behold, I will do something in Israel at which both ears of everyone who hears it will tingle.
[12] In that day I will perform against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from beginning to end.
[13] For I have told him that I will judge his house forever for the iniquity which he knows, because his sons made themselves vile, and he did not restrain them.
[14] And therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be atoned for by sacrifice or offering forever.”
Message:
Offering help to individuals, groups, or communities is an act that always brings fulfilment.
It has been proven by research that people who help others are always happy and are less likely to develop depression and other emotional issues.
However, those who complain or see other people as burdens do not live happily.
Today’s Bible reading urges us to minister help to fellow believers. This means that you have been assigned to help people in your dormitory, fellowship, school, et cetera, based on your capacity.
For instance, if your classmate has no snack for lunch and you have two, God expects you to share your lunch to alleviate your classmate’s hunger.
Also, if your parents are rich and your coursemate is having issues with paying his or her school fees, you can help your coursemate by asking your parents if they can assist in paying his or her fees.
My dear child, it is richly rewarding when you help others or volunteer to serve in organisations.
It can also help to build your experience for future careers or businesses.
Action Point:
Help someone in need around you today.
HYMN 4: BE GLAD IN THE LORD AND REJOICE
1 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice,
All ye that are upright in heart;
And ye that have made him your choice,
Bid sadness and sorrow depart.
Refrain:
Rejoice, rejoice!
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice!
2 Be joyful, for He is the Lord,
On earth and in heaven supreme;
He fashions and rules by His word;
The Mighty and strong to redeem
3 What though in the conffict for right
Your enemies almost prevail,
God’s armies, just hid from your sight,
Are more than the foes which assail.
4 Though darkness surround you by day,
Your sky by the night be o’ercast,
Let nothing your spirit dismay,
But trust till the danger is past.
5 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice,
His praises proclaiming in song;
With harp, and with organ and voice
The loud hallelujahs prolong!
