Title: Hard Work Beats Talent
Memorize: In all labor there is profit, But idle chatter leads only to poverty. Proverbs 14:23 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 9:10-12 (Nkjv)
[10] Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.
[11] I returned and saw under the sun that— The race is not to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong, Nor bread to the wise, Nor riches to men of understanding, Nor favor to men of skill; But time and chance happen to them all. [
12] For man also does not know his time: Like fish taken in a cruel net, Like birds caught in a snare, So the sons of men are snared in an evil time, When it falls suddenly upon them.
Message:
You don’t need to have all the talent in the world to succeed; what truly matters is your dedication and perseverance. People say that actions speak louder than words. This could also mean that hard work, even in the smallest of tasks, brings results, while idle talk leads nowhere.
When you give your best effort either in your academics, career, or service to God, you’re not just working for grades, trophies, or praise; you’re honouring God. Hard work means showing up, staying consistent, and pushing through challenges. Your talent or skill might get you noticed, but hard work will keep you growing.
My dear child, I encourage you to put your energy and focus into any task or responsibility before you. Whether it’s tackling homework, excelling in sports, or helping with house chores, don’t shy away from tasks. Sometimes, people may not see you or appreciate the effort you’re making, but don’t be discouraged. Trust God and do your best; He can take your efforts and multiply them in ways you never imagined.
Key Point:
Hard work builds character and resilience in you.
Hymn: When we walk with the Lord
1. When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain: Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2. But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey. [Refrain]
3. Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we’ll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey. [Refrain]
