Title: Broken But Beautiful
Memorize: The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit. Psalm 34:18 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Jeremiah 18:1-8 (Nkjv)
[1] The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying:
[2] “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.”
[3] Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel.
[4] And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.
[5] Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
[6] “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel!
[7] The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it,
[8] if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it.
Message:
Pain is hard to endure, and sometimes it feels like it serves no purpose, but with God, nothing is wasted, not even our most difficult moments. God sometimes uses pain to shape one’s life in beautiful ways. In today’s Bible reading, a potter was working with clay, which is often pressed, moulded, and sometimes broken to create a masterpiece. Similarly, God uses the painful seasons in our lives to refine, teach, and draw us closer to Him. (2 Corinthians 12:9) says that His grace is sufficient for us, for His strength is made perfect in weakness.
In moments of brokenness, when you feel you can’t go on, trust God for His strength. Don’t let your pain define you; rather, let it be a stepping stone to discovering God’s greater purpose for your life. Remember that beauty can emerge from brokenness. A cracked jar can still hold light, and the light will shine through its imperfections. In the same way, God can use your unpleasant moments to showcase His glory. So my dear child, don’t let pain make you bitter but better.
Prayer Point:
Father, please let Your light shine through my imperfections.
Hymn 8: Through The Love Of God Our Saviour
1 Through the love of God our Saviour,
all will be well.
Free and changeless is his favour,
all, all is well.
Precious is the blood that healed us,
perfect is the grace that sealed us,
strong the hand stretched forth to shield us,
all must be well.
2 Though we pass through tribulation,
all will be well.
Ours is such a full salvation,
all, all is well.
Happy, still in God confiding,
fruitful, if in Christ abiding,
holy, through the Spirit’s guiding,
all must be well.
3 We expect a bright tomorrow,
all will be well.
Faith can sing through days of sorrow,
‘All, all is well.’
On our Father’s love relying,
Jesus every need supplying,
in our living, in our dying,
all must be well.
