Title: A Double Life
Memorize: But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:22 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Psalms 15:1-5 (Nkjv)
[1] Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill?
[2] He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart;
[3] He who does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend;
[4] In whose eyes a vile person is despised, But he honors those who fear the Lord; He who swears to his own hurt and does not change;
[5] He who does not put out his money at usury, Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.
Message:
Some Christians claim to follow God but secretly live in sin and act contrary to His word. The things they say usually do not align with what they do.
It can be said that such people live a double life. Jesus wants His children to be consistent in their words and actions, and He emphasized this in Matthew 5:37: “Let your Yes be Yes, and your ‘No, ‘No”.
As a genuine child of God, you should never live a double life. I avoid making promises as much as possible because I do not control time and life.
However, when I make a promise, I ensure that I fulfil it completely. Likewise, every believer must strive to make their Word their bond.
Let people know your stance on matters and ensure that what you say or do in private aligns with what you say or do in public.
Jesus is pleased when you declare that He is your Lord and obey His instructions, but He is displeased when you live in hypocrisy and refuse to submit to His authority (Luke 6:46).
My dear child, living an honest and genuine life will attract God’s presence to you and make people trust you.
They will seek counsel from you and ask for guidance in many matters because you have proven to be trustworthy and consistent.
May the Almighty God give you the grace to always be sincere in your words and actions, in Jesus name.
Key Point:
Say what you mean and mean what you Say.
HYMN 30: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD
1 When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2 Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.
[Refrain]
3 But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.
[Refrain]
4 Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we’ll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey.
[Refrain]
