Title: Mothers Are Gold
Memorize: Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her Proverbs 31:28 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Ephesians 6:1-3 (Nkjv)
[1] Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
[2] “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise:
[3] “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”
Message:
I was blessed with a loving mother who helped me to understand the value of being a woman, the sacrifices we make, and the love we pour into shaping our children’s lives (both physically and spiritually).
A good mother endures discomfort and continues to make personal sacrifices daily to ensure that her child(ren) has enough care, good education, and guidance.
It is only right that we cherish and appreciate our mothers.
I know that not every child who is reading this devotional today has a biological mother present in his or her life.
Perhaps you may have been disappointed by your biological mother or a mother figure in your life.
I encourage you not to dwell on the pain of your experience; rather, be grateful to God for the gift of life and trust that He will bring loving mentors your way.
My dear child, this week, I want you to do something special to honour your mother or a mother figure in your life.
Whether she has been really good to you or not, send her this message through a phone or write it on a piece of paper and give it to her: “Thank you for taking care of me, ma.
You will reap the fruits of your labour over me, in Jesus’ name.”
I pray that the Lord will grant your biological mother and every mother figure in your life the grace to live long and reap the fruits of their labour, in Jesus’ name.
Key Point:
Mothers make sacrifices for their children; therefore, they should be cherished and appreciated.
Bible Quiz:
What does Ephesians 6:1-3 teach children to do?
HYMN 19: BE GLAD IN THE LORD AND REJOICE
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice,
All ye that are upright in heart;
And ye that have made him your choice,
Bid sadness and sorrow depart.
Refrain:
Rejoice, rejoice! Be glad in the Lord and rejoice!
2 What though in the conflict for right
Your enemies almost prevail,
God’s armies, just hid from your sight,
Are more than the foes which assail.
3 Though darkness surround you by day,
Your sky by the night be o’ercast,
Let nothing your spirit dismay,
But trust till the danger is past.
4 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice,
His praises proclaiming in song;
Acclaim him with trumpet and voice,
The loud hallelujahs prolong.
