TOPIC: Prayer Works
MEMORISE: Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and | will listen to you. Jeremiah 29:12
BIBLE READING: James 5:16-18
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
MESSAGE:
Some Christians underestimate the power of prayer, forgetting that it is a tool they can use to control and shape things in the spiritual realm. Sometimes, when we pray, it may appear as if nothing is happening in the physical realm; however, a lot of things are being sorted out in the spiritual realm. Prayers cause things to work out in ways we do not expect.
One of my daughters in the Lord gave birth to a set of twins. Shortly after that, she and her husband lost their sources of livelihood, and things became difficult for them. One day, they had nothing to eat, and her children started crying profusely because they were hungry. Not knowing what else to do, she resorted to praying. Some moments later, a group of Christians who were evangelising in her area visited her. After the evangelists finished preaching to her and praying for her, she apologised to them for not offering them anything to eat. She also went on to explain her family’s predicament to them. One of them was touched, and he went to the supermarket, got groceries for the family, and gave her husband a job the next day.
My dear child, God answers prayers. If you need anything right now, go ahead and pray to God about it, and He will answer you.Spiritual growth coaching
KEY POINT:
Turn your worrying to prayers and watch God do the impossible for you.
HYMN 22: Sweet Hour Of Prayer! Sweet Hour Of Prayer!
1 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
that calls me from a world of care,
and bids me at my Father’s throne
make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
my soul has often found relief,
and oft escaped the tempter’s snare
by thy return, sweet hour of prayer!
2 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
the joys I feel, the bliss I share
of those whose anxious spirits burn
with strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
where God my Savior shows his face,
and gladly take my station there,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
3 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
thy wings shall my petition bear
to him whose truth and faithfulness
engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since he bids me seek his face,
believe his word, and trust his grace,
I’ll cast on him my every care,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
