Title: God Rewards
Memorize: And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward. Matthew 10:42 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Matthew 6:1-4 (Nkjv)
[1] Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven.
[2] Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.
[3] But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
[4] that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.
Message:
It is reassuring and encouraging to know that God recognises and rewards acts of kindness and love. As a child of God, you must learn to do good and show love to everyone, not just to your friends, church members, or family members. When you show love to everyone around you, you imitate your heavenly Father, who causes the rain to fall on both good and bad people (Matthew 5:45). In today’s memory verse, Jesus promised to reward anyone who gives as little as a drink of water to the needy for the gospel’s sake.
Some time ago, a Christian couple fed an unbelieving young man, and that kind gesture made him surrender his life to Christ. Today, the young man owns a successful organisation with many branches across Nigeria, and that Christian couple, who became his spiritual parents, have been greatly rewarded by God in different areas of their lives.
My dear child, as you do good to everyone around you, bear in mind that you are doing all you do to God, and in due season, He will reward you greatly.
Action Point:
Show an act of kindness to a stranger today.

What does today’s devotional encourage you to do like your heavenly Father?
Hymn 30: When We Walk With The Lord
1 When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2 Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.
3 But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.
4 Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we’ll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey.
