Title: Be Self-Disciplined
Memorize: But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. 1 Corinthians 9:27 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (Nkjv)
[24] Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.
[25] And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.
[26] Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air.
[27] But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.
Message:
Self-discipline is a vital key for anyone who desires greatness. Greatness is not accidental; it is a reward for consistency, focus, and self-control.
If you want to become successful, you must be ready to pay the price of discipline.
For instance, if you desire academic success, you must be diligent in studying.
Also, if you want to do great exploits for God and enjoy His greatness in your life, a lifestyle of prayer, fasting, and obedience is nonnegotiable.
My dear child, you cannot thrive without self-discipline. The devil may try to distract you with social media, unproductive friendships, or worldly pleasures; don’t give him that chance.
You must distance yourself from anything or anyone that pulls you away from purpose.
Beloved, God has prepared a glorious destiny for you. Jeremiah 29:11 says that the plans He has for you are good; they are to prosper you and give you a glorious future.
Therefore, do not allow anything to disqualify you from attaining the glorious height that God has prepared for you. Be disciplined, prayerful, and focused.
Key Point:
Self-discipline paves the way for greatness.
HYMN: ROCK OF AGES, CLEFT FOR ME
1. Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in Thee! Let the water and the blood, From Thy riven side which flowed, Be of sin the double cure; Cleanse me from its guilt and power.
2. Not the labours of my hands, can fulfill thy law’s demands could zeal no respite know, could my tears forever flow, all for sin could not atone, thou must save and thou alone.
3. Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to thy cross I cling naked, come to thee for dress, helpless, look to thee fir grace foul to the fountain fly wash me saviour or I die.
4. While I draw this fleeting breath, when my eyelids close in death, when I soar to worlds unknown, see thee on thy judgment throne, rock of ages cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee.
