Title: Authoritative Words
Memorize: Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: James 3:5-11 (Nkjv)
[5] Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!
[6] And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.
[7] For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind.
[8] But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
[9] With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.
[10] Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.
[11] Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?
Message:
A well-bridled tongue is revealed by the Words that proceed from it. Some people use their tongues to sing worldly music and utter unholy slang words and abusive or vain words. After using it to serve the devil’s purpose, they then use the same tongue to sing gospel songs, speak in tongues, and try to cast out demons. This is wrong, as a child of God cannot serve two masters.
A fellow who uses his or her tongue for sinful acts cannot have the authority to use the same tongue to go against the devil. Demons will laugh and make a jest of such a fellow. If you want to use your tongue to talk about Jesus and the greatness of God, then your words must always be full of grace (Colossians 4:6); you must avoid dirty language, worldly slang words, and secular songs that are not inspired by the Holy Spirit.
My dear child, God can mark your tongue as His when you use it for godly purposes. He can touch and purge your tongue with fire, so that when you speak to difficult situations and command demons, they will obey you. I pray that you will use your tongue to only say things that glorify God, in Jesus’ name.
Prayer Point:
Father, please purify my tongue and use it for Your glory at all times.
Hymn 70: All To Jesus I Surrender
1 All to Jesus I surrender
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.
Chorus:
I surrender all.
I surrender all:
All to Thee, my blessed saviour
I surrender alI
2 All to Jesus I surrender,
Humbly at His feet I bow;
Worldly pleasures all forsaken.
Take me, Jesus, take me now.
3 All to Jesus I surrender.
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power,
Let Thy blessing fall on me.
4 All to Jesus I surrender,
Now I feel the sacred flame
O the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory to His name!
