Title: Engage Your Skill

Memorize: And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, Colossians 3:23 (Nkjv)

Bible Reading: Colossians 3:22-25 (Nkjv)

[22] Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God.

[23] And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,

[24] knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.

[25] But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.

Message:

There are so many skills and professions in the world today that have their basis in the word of God.

For example, fashion design is a profession started by God Himself in Genesis 2, marketing was practiced by Jesus in Acts 10:38, negotiation and prioritization were done by Pontius Pilate when he asked the people to choose between Barnabas and Jess of Nazareth for crucifixion, problem-solving and administrative skills were practiced by Joseph throughout the years of famine in Egypt, and David was personal development coach who schooled about 400 men until they became mighty men of valor.

This invariably means that all our natural and acquired abilities or skills must be used to make positive impacts in the world and win more souls to Christ for the expansion of His Kingdom.

Endeavour to honor God by using your abilities to glorify Him because any ability, talent or gift that cannot be used for God’s Kingdom is nothing but a waste.

HYMN 6: I’M PRESSING ON THE UPWARD WAY

  1. I’m pressing on the upward way,
    New heights I’m gaining everyday;
    Still praying as I onward bound
    “Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

CHORUS
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith, on Heaven’s table-land;
Where love, and joy, and light abound,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

  1. My heart has no desire to stay
    Where doubts arise, and fears dismay;
    Though some may dwell where these abound,
    My constant aim is higher ground.
  2. Beyond the mist I fain would rise,
    To rest beneath unclouded skies,
    Above earth’s turmoil peace is found
    By those who dwell on higher ground.
  3. I long to scale the utmost height,
    Though rough the way, and hard the fight,
    My song, while climbing, shall resound
    Lord, lead me on to higher ground.
  4. Lord, lead me up the mountain side
    I dare not climb without my Guide;
    And, heaven gained, I’ll gaze around,
    With grateful heart from higher ground.
