Title: Victory Over Adversities
MEMORISE: And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible. Mark 10:27
BIBLE READING: Psalms 34:17-19
17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
MESSAGE:
Adversities are challenges and obstacles that obstruct the progress of an individual or group of people. In the Bible, the Israelites faced various adversities, including Pharaoh and his army, the wall of Jericho, Goliath, and the Philistines. In today’s world, adversities in the life of believers may include poverty. Sickness, slavery. captivity. siege, and barrenness. These adversities keep people in a spot and make it difficult for them to make progress in life. They may seem insurmountable by human efforts, but with God, nothing is impossible. Any situation in your life that is against God’s purpose is an abnormality brought about by the devil and, sometimes, by sin.
My dear child, I want you to know that with Jesus in your life, you can have victory over every adversity or unpleasant situation that may come your way. However, you need to know the source of the adversity first. If you are facing adversity in your life and the cause is sin, the first thing you need to do is confess your sins and surrender your life totally to Jesus Christ. Then, you can command the adversity to leave. If the adversity has been brought about by the devil, remember that you have been given authority over him (Luke 10:19). Therefore, stand on your authority and command the devil to flee in the name of Jesus. He will heed your command, and the adversity will be a thing of the past.
Quiz: Name two adversities the Israelites faced on their way to the Promised Land.
CONFESSION:
I command every adversity in my life and family to disappear now in the
name of Jesus.
HYMN 67 – HO, MY COMRADES
1 Ho, my comrades! see the signal
Waving in the sky!
Reinforcements now appearing,
Victory is nigh!
Chorus
“Hold the fort, for I am coming,”
Jesus signals still,
Wave the answer back to heaven,
“By Thy grace we will, “
2 See the mighty host advancing
Satan leading on:
Mighty men around us falling,
Courage almost gone!
3 See the glorious banner waving!
Hear the trumpet blow!
In our Leader’s name we’ll triumph
Over ev’ry foe!
4 Fierce and long the battle rages,
But our help is near:
Onward comes our great
commander,
Cheer, my comrades, cheer!
