Title: Care For Others
Memorize: Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:10 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading (Nkjv): Romans 15:23-29
[23] But now no longer having a place in these parts, and having a great desire these many years to come to you,
[24] whenever I journey to Spain, I shall come to you. For I hope to see you on my journey, and to be helped on my way there by you, if first I may enjoy your company for a while.
[25] But now I am going to Jerusalem to minister to the saints.
[26] For it pleased those from Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints who are in Jerusalem.
[27] It pleased them indeed, and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister to them in material things.
[28] Therefore, when I have performed this and have sealed to them this fruit, I shall go by way of you to Spain.
[29] But I know that when I come to you, I shall come in the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.
Message:
Despite the great anointing with which Apostle Paul was ministering to the Jews and Gentiles, he was still particular about the ministry of care. Jesus Christ taught the importance of hospitality when He said: “For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.”. (Mark 9:41)
No matter the spiritual gifts you express, your spirituality is questionable if you don’t care for people genuinely. You must engage in the ministry of care and welfare. This is one of the reasons we always include free feeding and accommodation at our major programes and conventions. We ensure that the camp is conducive for an average person to have a comfortable stay as they come to fellowship with God. Indeed, I can testify that taking care of the needy has provided opportunities for effective soul-winning in the body of Christ.
Action Point:
Commit a part of your pocket money to meeting the needs of the poor in your neighborhood or fellowship.
HYMN 21 – I Want To Be Like Jesus
- I want to be like Jesus,
So lowly and so meek;
For no one mark’d an angry word,
That ever heard Him speak, - I want to be like Jesus,
So frequently in prayer;
Alone upon the mountain top,
He met his Father there. - I want to be like Jesus,
I never, never find
That He, though persecuted was
To anyone unkind. - I want to be like Jesus,
Engaged in doing good;
So that of me it may be said
“He hath done what he could.” - I want to be like Jesus,
Who sweetly said to all,
“Let little children come to Me;”
I would obey the call. - But oh I’m not like Jesus,
As anyone may see;
O gentle Savior, send Thy grace,
And make me like to Thee
