Title: Upgrade Your Studying
Memorize Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Proverbs 4:7 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Proverbs 4:5-7 (Nkjv)
[5] Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
[6] Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you.
[7] Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.
Message:
The world today can never forget a man called Ben Carson.
He was the first surgeon to separate Siamese twins who were joined at the head.
This ability distinguished him from the other surgeons of his time.
Ben learned a lot by reading from childhood. He was lucky to have a mother that encouraged reading and this helped him to achieve greatness.
There is a cliché that readers are leaders. Research has also proven that most of the men who achieve greatness in life are readers.
If you must lead in this life and lead well, you must be a reader. It has been said that if you want to hide secrets, put them in books.
Sadly, this is true because many people spend more hours on social media than on reading books.
One can easily identify readers by their speech because they display a level of intelligence that gives them an edge over others.
My child, reading broadens your mind, it makes you informed and shapes your thought pattern.
Most of the kings in the Bible that brought about good reformations read books, for example, King Josiah (2 Kings 23).
You can only increase in knowledge by reading.
Reflection:
Read an autobiography this week.
HYMN 6: I’M PRESSING ON THE UPWARD WAY
1. I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining everyday;
Still praying as I onward bound
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”
CHORUS
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith, on Heaven’s table-land;
Where love, and joy, and light abound,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
2. My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise, and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where these abound,
My constant aim is higher ground.
3. Beyond the mist I fain would rise,
To rest beneath unclouded skies,
Above earth’s turmoil peace is found
By those who dwell on higher ground.
4. I long to scale the utmost height,
Though rough the way, and hard the fight,
My song, while climbing, shall resound
Lord, lead me on to higher ground.
5. Lord, lead me up the mountain side
I dare not climb without my Guide;
And, heaven gained, I’ll gaze around,
With grateful heart from higher ground.
