Title: Honor Your Parents

Bible Reading: John 19:25-27 (Nkjv)
[25] Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
[26] When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!”
[27] Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.
Message:
One of the reasons Some children die young is because they lack respect for their parents or elders.
Exodus 20:12 commands us to honor our parents so that our days may be long. It therefore means that anyone who does otherwise might not live long.
Taking care of your parents is a Way of honoring them. David is a good example of someone who took good care of his parents.
At the time Saul was hunting for David, though he was always on the run, he looked for a safe place to hide his parents, whom he knew would be susceptible to attack from Saul (1 Samuel 22:1-4).
If you deny your parents before your friends because you feel they are not well dressed, then you don’t honor them.
Also, if you wait for your parents to call your name repeatedly in the house before you run errands or demand a gift before helping them, you don’t honor them.
As much as it lies within you, make them happy at all times because you will reap what you sow.
Action Point:
If you have been dishonoring your parents, ask for their forgiveness today and turn a new leaf.
