TITLE: CAUGHT UNAWARES?
MEMORIZE: I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. John 16:18 (NKJV)
BIBLE READING John 21:15-17
1 Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
3 Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. 4 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
6 When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. 7 And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing.
8 Therefore the neighbors and those who previously had seen that he was blind said, “Is not this he who sat and begged?”
9 Some said, “This is he.” Others said, “He is like him.”
He said, “I am he.”
MESSAGE
There are two important appointments for everyone on earth: the appointment with death (Hebrews 9:27) and the appointment with life. If a fellow keeps the appointment with life which is through Jesus Christ, he will escape the appointment with death as the Bible says in John 1:4: “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” However, if a fellow misses the appointment with life, death becomes inevitable: this appointment leads to the worst life in eternity – hell.
Nobody wishes to die young, neither does anyone wish that his/her child should die young. However, wishes do not stop young ones from dying. Jesus knew His time on earth would be short, so, He spent His teenage and youthful years doing the work of His Father. He didn’t spend His time on frivolous activities, instead, He went about doing good.
This same mindset should be in you. Do the work of God in your chosen Field because what will count at the end of your stay on earth is how well you used all your gifts to the glory of God.
