Title: Desiring Long Life?
Memorize: Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you. Exodus 20:12 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Ephesians 6:1-3 (Nkjv)
[1] Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
[2] “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise:
[3] “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”
Daily Confession:
I confess today that that I am grateful for the gift of life and committed to understanding the secrets of longevity hidden in God’s Word, positioning myself to live a life of purpose and fulfillment, in Jesus’ name, in the mighty name of Jesus.
Message:
Most people want to live long no matter their present situation. They hope for a better life as they wake up each day.
It’s unfortunate however, that many of them have not discovered the secret of long life, which is hidden in the word of God.
The commandment given by God to the children of Israel and which was repeated by Apostle Paul in today’s text is one that is disobeyed by many young people, and this has brought grave consequences to some of them.
Due to civilization and technological advancements going on today, some children have become rebellious towards their parents.
They refuse to take corrections when scolded, they shout back at their parents in reaction to punishments or rebuke, and they sometimes move out of the home to gain their freedom, not knowing that this is a bondage in disguise.
Dear child, Proverbs 29:1 says: “He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck,
Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.” I pray that your destiny will never be cut short in Jesus’ name.
Key Point:
The way of disobedience seems right but the end leads to destruction.
HYMN 21 – I WANT TO BE LIKE JESUS
1. I want to be like Jesus,
So lowly and so meek;
For no one mark’d an angry word,
That ever heard Him speak,
2. I want to be like Jesus,
So frequently in prayer;
Alone upon the mountain top,
He met his Father there.
3. I want to be like Jesus,
I never, never find
That He, though persecuted was
To anyone unkind.
4. I want to be like Jesus,
Engaged in doing good;
So that of me it may be said
“He hath done what he could.”
5. I want to be like Jesus,
Who sweetly said to all,
“Let little children come to Me;”
I would obey the call.
6. But oh I’m not like Jesus,
As anyone may see;
O gentle Saviour, send Thy grace,
And make me like to Thee
