Title: Give Thanks
Memorize: For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 1 Thessalonians 5:3 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Ephesians 5:15-17 (Nkjv)
[15] See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,
[16] redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
[17] Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Message:
One day, my wife called to check on a sick person we had been praying for.
After the phone call.
She told me the fellow said, “Help me to thank God that I was able to wear my clothes by myself today.
” Then I thought to myself, “I have never thought of thanking God for the ability to dress up by myself.”
This year, do not pay attention to the things you don’t have.
Instead, focus on the great things that God has done and will still do for you.
Don’t go into the Lord’s presence, bombarding Him with numerous requests and petitions.
Thank Him and appreciate Him instead for all He has done, and He will surpass your expectations.
God enjoys being with people who genuinely thank Him and sing praises of His name.
However, He frowns at those who murmur.
Many Israelites, particularly the adults who left Egypt, did not get to the Promised Land because of their constant murmuring against Him, causing their bodies to fall in the wilderness (Numbers 14:29-30).
My dear child, learn from Joseph, who didn’t murmur while he was in slavery or was jailed for a crime he did not commit.
Eventually, he fulfilled his destiny, and God made him prosperous (Genesis 45:4-8).
Action Point:
Thank God for the next 30 minutes.
HYMN 1: O LORD MY GOD!
1. O Lord My God! When am in awesome wonder,
Consider all the works thy hands hath made
I see the stars, I heard the rolling thunder
Thy pow’r thro’ out The universe displayed
Chorus:
Then sing my soul, My savior God to thee;
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
Then sing my soul, My savior God to thee;
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
2. Then through the woods nd forest glads I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the tress;
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze;
3. And when I think that God, His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die I scare can take it in;
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.
4. When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim, my God how great Thou art!
