Title: Guard Your Heart
Memorize: Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus Philippians 2:5 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Proverbs 4:23 (Nkjv)
[23] Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.
Message:
Our heart is very delicate because out of it flows the issues of life. One of the best ways to guard your heart is to focus on Jesus.
When your eyes are on Him, you are less likely to be led astray by the things of this world.
You need to make sure that your relationship with Christ is your number one priority and that you are spending quality time with Him every day.
Another effective way to guard your heart is to be careful about what you allow your mind to think about.
You must learn to control your thoughts and focus on positive things. Be careful of what and who you listen to.
Ensure that you listen to people who will build you up and not tear you down because evil communication corrupts good manners (1 Corinthians 15:33).
Finally, it is important to guard your heart because it affects your thoughts and decisions.
If your heart is in line with the word of God and His plans for your life, you will make wise decisions.
However, if your heart is in the wrong place, dwelling on the wrong things, you will be more likely to make foolish decisions.
Reflection:
Is your heart totally focused on Jesus Christ?
HYMN 20 – CHRISTIAN, SEEK NOT YET REPOSE
1 Christian, seek not yet repose;
Hear thy guardian angel say,
“Thou art in the midst of foes:
Watch and pray!”
2 Principalities and powers ,
Mustering their unseen array,
Wait for thy unguarded hours:
“Watch and pray.”
3 Gird thy heavenly armour on;
Wear it every night and day
Ambush’d lies the evil one:
“Watch and pray.”
4 Hear the victors who o’ercame;
Still they mark each warrior’s way;
All with one sweet voice exclaim,
“Watch and pray!”
5 Watch, as if on that alone
Hung the issue of the day;
Pray, that help may be sent down:
Watch and pray.
6 Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
Him thou lovest to obey;
Hide within thy heart His word
“Watch and pray!”
