Title: The Bible, Gender, and Sexuality III
Memorize: You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. Leviticus 18:22-30 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Leviticus 18:22-30 (Nkjv)
[22] You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.
[23] Nor shall you mate with any animal, to defile yourself with it. Nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it. It is perversion.
[24] ‘Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you.
[25] For the land is defiled; therefore I visit the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants.
[26] You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations, either any of your own nation or any stranger who dwells among you
[27] (for all these abominations the men of the land have done, who were before you, and thus the land is defiled),
[28] lest the land vomit you out also when you defile it, as it vomited out the nations that were before you.
[29] For whoever commits any of these abominations, the persons who commit them shall be cut off from among their people.
[30] ‘Therefore you shall keep My ordinance, so that you do not commit any of these abominable customs which were committed before you, and that you do not defile yourselves by them: I am the Lord your God.’ ”
Message:
In conclusion of the teaching I started two days ago on gender and sexuality, I will like to share an experience I once had with you.
Some years ago, I was in one of the western nations to preach, and a journalist interviewed me about my views on same-sex marriage.
I told the journalist that God made men and women to reproduce after their kind. I then asked the journalist, “Is it possible for people of the same gender to produce offsprings?”
I concluded by telling the interviewer that if everyone got married to someone of the same sex, the world would come to an end in this generation.
As a child of God, whenever you have the opportunity to speak about homosexuality, don’t beat about the bush.
One of the reasons evil thrives is that some good people are too afraid to say the truth.
Don’t keep quiet when people say that they are sexually attracted to people of the same gender as them.
Don’t judge or condemn them; rather tell them the truth with love, even in countries where the government has made it illegal to speak the truth as regards homosexuality.
You have a greater government in Christ, and you must represent Him everywhere you go.
Key Point:
Never be shy to take a stand against homosexuality.
HYMN 33 – GUIDE ME, O THOU GREAT JEHOVAH!
1 Guide me, O Thou Great Jehovah!
Pilgrim through this barren land;
I am weak, but Thou art mighty,
Hold me with Thy powerful hand:
Bread of heaven! Bread of heaven!
Feed me now and evermore,
Feed me now and evermore.
2 Open Thou the crystal fountain,
Whence the healing stream doth flow:
Let the fiery, cloudy pillar,
Lead me all my journey through:
Strong deliverer! Strong deliverer!
Be Thou still my strength and shield,
Be Thou still my strength and shield.
3 If I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside:
Bear me through the swelling torrent,
Land me safe on Canaan’s side:
Songs of praises! Song of praises!
I will ever give to Thee,
I will ever give to Thee.
4 Saviour, come! we long to see Thee,
Long to dwell with Thee above;
And to know in full communion,
All the sweetness of Thy love,
Come, Lord Jesus! Come Lord Jesus!
Take Thy waiting people home,
Take Thy waiting people home.
