Title: For Your Learning
Memorize: All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 15:10-26 (Nkjv)
[10] Now the word of the Lord came to Samuel, saying,
[11] “I greatly regret that I have set up Saul as king, for he has turned back from following Me, and has not performed My commandments.” And it grieved Samuel, and he cried out to the Lord all night.
[12] So when Samuel rose early in the morning to meet Saul, it was told Samuel, saying, “Saul went to Carmel, and indeed, he set up a monument for himself; and he has gone on around, passed by, and gone down to Gilgal.”
Message:
One key lesson that you can learn from today’s Bible reading can be found in verse 22, which says, “…to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.” King Saul lost the kingdom of Israel because he chose not to obey God’s instruction to completely destroy the Amalekites and their possessions. Instead, he spared their king and the best of their cattle, claiming that he wanted to offer the cattle in sacrifice to God.
My dear child, all the stories you read in the Bible contain lessons that would be beneficial to you if you pay attention to them. Those stories and every other thing that is written in the Bible were written so you can learn from them (Romans 15:4). You should ask yourself this question based on this revelation: are you really learning lessons from the examples that God has given you in the Bible and the things happening around you? For instance, have you learnt from Judas Iscariot’s story that greed can destroy a fellow? Have you learnt from Samson that sexual sins will reduce a strong fellow to a piece of bread (Proverbs 6:26)?
Key Point:
Beloved, be wise! Pay attention to God’s words and the significant things that are happening around you.
Hymn 55 – Christian, Seek Not Yet Repose
1 Christian, Seek Not Yet Repose;
Hear Thy Guardian Angel Say,
“Thou Art In The Midst Of Foes:
Watch And Pray!”
2 Principalities And Powers,
Mustering Their Unseen Array,
Wait For Thy Unguarded Hours:
“Watch And Pray.”
3 Gird Thy Heavenly Armour On;
Wear It Every Night And Day
Ambush’d Lies The Evil One:
“Watch And Pray.”
4 Hear The Victors Who O’ercame;
Still They Mark Each Warrior’s Way;
All With One Sweet Voice Exclaim,
“Watch And Pray!”
5 Hear, Above All, Hear Thy Lord,
Him Thou Lovest To Obey;
Hide Within Thy Heart His Word:
“Watch And Pra!.”
6 Watch, As If On That Alone
Hung The Issue Of The Day;
Pray, That Help May Be Sent Down:
Watch And Pray.
