Title: The Powerful Meal
Memorize: and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 1 Corinthians 11:24 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 11:23-29 (Nkjv)
[23] For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;
[24] and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
[25] In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
[26] For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.
[27] Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
[28] But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
[29] For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
Message:
There is a tendency to forget the passion of our Lord Jesus Christ, which led to His death and resurrection. In fact, a major reason people backslide is connected to the fact that they forget the agony of death which the Savior suffered for our salvation.
When Jesus said we should observe the Holy Communion often in remembrance of Him, it was because He knew what it would take to die for us, and He didn’t want His sacrifice to be forgotten. The Holy Communion should be taken as frequently as possible to enable us to remember the death of our Lord Jesus Christ and the reason for it.
This meal that comprises the body and blood of Jesus is the most powerful meal on the earth. By the grace of God, I overcame chronic malaria because I keyed into the power of this meal. Are you in need of a major breakthrough in your health or any other area of your life? I want to enjoin you to partake of the Holy Communion often and take the meal worthily, that is, without sin.
Key Point:
Take the Holy Communion worthily and by faith.
HYMN 50 – CONQUERORS AND OVERCOMERS NOW ARE WE
1 Conquerors and overcomers now are we,
Thro’ the precious blood of Christ we’ve victory,
If the Lord be for us, we can never fail;
Nothing ‘gainst his mighty pow’r can e’er prevail.
Refrain:
Conquerors are we, thro’ the blood, thro’ the blood;
God will give us victory, thro’ the blood, thro’ the blood,
Thro’ the Lamb for sinners slain,
Yet who lives and reigns again,
More than conquerors are we,
More than conquerors are we.
