Title: Outreach Of Love
Memorize: We love him, because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: James 2:15-16 (Nkjv)
[15] If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food,
[16] and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?
Message:
When going on an outreach, you ought to first find out the needs of the people you are going to minister to. If you fulfil those needs, they will listen to you. You can’t preach to someone who is hungry and expect him or her to listen to you. However, if you give the person some food, he or she will listen to you because everyone responds to love.
If you want to talk to someone about accepting the love of God, you must first show that same love to the fellow. A story was told about a little boy whose shoelace got tangled in church and who had some difficulty loosening it. Suddenly, a man stooped to help him lace his shoe properly, and before he could say ‘thank you,” the man was gone. He ran to his mother and said, “I have seen Jesus! He helped tie my shoelace.” After some minutes of searching for the man who helped him tie his shoelace, the boy’s description led them to the pastor of the church.
People will connect to you more when you help them. Therefore, the next time you go on evangelism or an outreach, and you meet the people you want to preach to doing laundry, sweeping, or washing cars, offer to help them. God will work on them through your show of love.
Action point:
Find out the needs of two people that you want to talk to about Jesus and think of ways to help meet their needs.
Hymn 7 – Wonderful Story Of Love
1. Wonderful story of love!
Tell it to me again;
Wonderful story of love!
Wake the immortal strain.
Angels with rapture announce it,
Shepherds with wonder receive it;
Sinner, O won’t you believe it?
Wonderful story of love!
Refrain:
Wonderful! Wonderful!
Wonderful story, Wonderful story of love!
2. Wonderful story of love!
Though you are far away;
Wonderful story of love!
Still he doth call today.
Calling from Calvary’s mountain,
Down from the crystal bright fountain,
E’en from the dawn of creation;
Wonderful story of love!
3. Wonderful story of love!
Jesus provides a rest;
Wonderful story of love!
For all the pure and blest;
Rest in those mansions above us,
With those who’ve gone on before us,
Singing the rapturous chorus;
Wonderful story of love!
