Title: Meekness
Memorize: Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5 (NKJV)
Numbers 12:1-3 (NKJV)
[1] Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married; for he had married an Ethiopian woman.
[2] So they said, “Has the LORD indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us also?” And the Lord heard it.
[3] (Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.)
Meekness is synonymous with humility; it is having the ability to exact revenge yet refusing to. Every child of God ought to inculcate a lifestyle of humility because the book of James encourages us to “humble yourself before God so that He will exalt you in due season” (James 4:10). This was evident in the life of Moses as God attested that he was the meekest man on earth. Moses was chosen to be the leader of over 600,000 people hat were known as the children of Israel. Anytime they were faced with challenge, they would antagonize and blame him for all their misfortunes. Moses, who had the ability to call down fire, never did. Even when he could lash back at them, he would run to God for a solution. He knew that he couldn’t lead them aright without the help of God, so he stayed humble
Beloved, you should not be like many leaders who become pompous and overbearing. Be different in your conduct and remain humble if you want God to continually raise you up.
Prayer Point:
Holy Spirit, please instill in me the spirit of meekness in Jesus’ name.
Hymn 21 :
1 I want to be like Jesus,
So lowly and so meek;
For no one marked an angry word
That ever heard him speak.
Refrain:
I want to be like Jesus,
God’s well beloved Son;
I want to be like Jesus,
The pure and holy One.
2 I want to be like Jesus,
So frequently in prayer;
Alone upon the mountain top,
He met his Father there. [Refrain]
3 I want to be like Jesus,
Engaged in doing good,
So that of me it may be said,
He hath done what he could. [Refrain]
4 Alas! I’m not like Jesus,
As any one may see;
Thy gentle Spirit, Savior, send,
And make me like to thee. [Refrain]
