Title: Learn How To Cook
Memorize: He also had made savory food, and brought it to his father, and said to his father, “Let my father arise and eat of his son’s game, that your soul may bless me.” Genesis 27:31 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Genesis 25:29-34 (Nkjv)
[29] Now Jacob cooked a stew; and Esau came in from the field, and he was weary.
[30] And Esau said to Jacob, “Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary.” Therefore his name was called Edom.
[31] But Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright as of this day.”
[32] And Esau said, “Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?”
[33] Then Jacob said, “Swear to me as of this day.” So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob.
[34] And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.
Message:
Today’s Bible passage shows that cooking is not gender- based. Esau and Jacob learned how to cook delicious meals from their mother, Rebecca. Little wonder their father, Isaac, requested for a good meal to be made for him by his eldest son so he could pronounce blessings on him. This invariably shows that those who cook well always provoke blessings from whoever eats their food.
I cited these specific Scriptures so that you will know that cooking is not gender-based. In our days, girls were trained to cook and perform house chores while boys were allowed to play football. However, in this current age, the dividing line is fading between boys and girls as both genders now have interest in the same fields. In fact, I know some boys who cook perfectly: some have restaurants that serve all kinds of meals ranging from Nigerian to intercontinental dishes.
Learning how to cook is one of the most interesting things you can do. You can start learning how to cook at home or in school through subjects like Home Economics or Food and Nutrition. Learning to cook well will not only help you to eat healthier, it will also help you to save money as an adult.
Action Point:
Volunteer to cook any type of meal for your parents this week.
HYMN 17 – THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING
1. There shall be showers of blessing”
This is the promise of love;
There shall be season refreshing
Send from a savior above
CHORUS
Showers of blessing
Showers of blessing we need;
Mercy drop round are falling
But for the showers we plead.
2. “There shall be showers of blessing”
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys;
Sound of abundance of rain.
3. “There shall be showers of blessing”
Send them upon us Oh Lord!
Grant to us a refreshing;
Come now and honour Thy Word.
4. “There shall be showers of blessing”
Oh, that today thy might fall,
Now as to God we are confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call!
5. “There shall be showers of blessing”
If we but trust and obey;
There shall be season refreshing,
If we let God have his way.
