Title: Greatness Is Costly
Memorize: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. Acts 10:38 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading (Nkjv): Judges 13:2-5
[2] Now there was a certain man from Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren and had no children.
[3] And the Angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her, “Indeed now, you are barren and have borne no children, but you shall conceive and bear a son.
[4] Now therefore, please be careful not to drink wine or similar drink, and not to eat anything unclean.
[5] For behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. And no razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb; and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.”
Message:
God is in the business of making champions out of young people and He is already making some champions.
However there are some people who don’t want to become champions due to the enormous responsibilities that come with it, therefore, they maintain their status quo. The cost of being a champion is very high.
When I was a boxer, it was required of me to shadow punch the air for hours during my jogging exercise at 5:00 am daily.
Anytime a tournament was approaching. I would discipline myself on the kind of food to eat and what to discard. It’s a whole lot of work to become a champion and remain one.
I want you to crave a champion’s position that only God can give because He will definitely coach and lead you on the right path; He will call the shots while you obey.
For example, if He asks you to go out and preach, give to your difficult neighbor, follow up on a new Convert, pray for the sick, et cetera, you must obey.
Key Point:
Greatness is costly but attainable.
HYMN 15 – ONWARD, CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS
1. Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
Looking unto Jesus,
Who is gone before;
Christ, the Royal Master,
Leads against the foe;
Forward into battle,
See His banners go.
CHORUS
Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
Looking unto Jesus,
Who is gone before.
2. At the name of Jesus
Satan’s host doth Ilee;
On then, Christian soldiers
On to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver
At the shout of praise:
Brothers, lift your voices,
Loud your anthems raise.
3. Like a mighty army
Moves the Church of God:
Brothers, we are treading
Where the saints have trod.
We are not divided,
All one body we
One in hope and doctrine,
One in charity.
4. Crowns and thrones may perish
Kingdoms rise and wane;
But the Church of Jesus
Constant will remain:
Gates of hell can never
‘Gainst that church prevail;
We have Christ’s own promise-
And that cannot fail.
5. Onward then, ye people,
Join our happy throng;
Blend with ours your voices
In the triumph song:
“Glory, praise and honour,
Unto Christ the King”,
This, through countless ages,
Men and angels sing.
