Title: Don’t Ignore God

MEMORIZE: The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none who does good. Psalm 14:1 (Nkjv)

Bible Reading DANIEL 4:30-34 (Nkjv)

[30] The king spoke, saying, “Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?”

[31] While the word was still in the king’s mouth, a voice fell from heaven: “King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: the kingdom has departed from you!

[32]And they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. They shall make you eat grass like oxen; and seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses.”

[33]That very hour the word was fulfilled concerning Nebuchadnezzar; he was driven from men and ate grass like oxen; his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers and his nails like birds’ claws.

[34]And at the end of the time I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me; and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever:
For His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
And His kingdom is from generation to generation.

Message:

There are many dangers of ignoring God. Any fellow who ignores God can begin to reason like an animal. For instance King Nebuchadnezzar pronounced that all his achievements and accomplishments in Babylon were as a result of his own efforts.

He was boastful and refused to acknowledge God. God’s judgment was passed on him, and he became an animal for 7 years. Another danger is one could become mad.

For instance, King Saul ignored God’s instructions because he wanted to be honoured by his people. The Spirit of God left him, and instantly, an evil spirit from the Lord came upon him to torment him.

Another king thought he was like God because his subjects commended his speech. Unfortunately, he wasn’t as lucky as the other kings: he was eaten up by maggots. Please, if you have been ignoring God in any way, or you still doubt His existence, go to Him in prayers now, repent and ask for mercy.

Key Point:

Whoever ignores God is a fool.

Prayer Point:

Father, please help me focus on the things that really matter to You and my destiny.

HYMN 9 – O JESUS, I HAVE PROMISED

  1. O Jesus, I have promised
    To serve Thee to the end;
    Be Thou for ever near me,
    My Master and my Friend:
    I shall not fear the battle
    If Thou art by my side,
    Nor wander from the pathway
    If Thou wilt be my Guide.
  2. O let me feel Thee near me;
    The world is ever near;
    I see the sights that dazzle,
    The tempting sounds I hear;
    My foes are ever near me,
    Around me and within;
    But, Jesus, draw Thou nearer,
    And shield my soul from sin.
  3. O let me hear Thee speaking
    In accents clear and still,
    Above the storms of passion,
    The murmurs of self-will;
    O speak to reassure me,
    To hasten or control;
    O speak and make me listen,
    Thou Guardian of my soul.
  4. O Jesus, Thou hast promised
    To all who follow Thee,
    That where Thou art in Glory
    There shall Thy servant be;
    And, Jesus, I have promised
    To serve Thee to the end;
    O give me grace to follow
    My Master and my Friend.
