Title: Relationship With a Purpose
MEMORIZE:As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend Proverbs 27:
BIBLE READING 1 Samuel 18:1-5
1Now when he had finished speaking to Saul, the [a]soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. 2 Saul took him that day, and would not let him go home to his father’s house anymore. 3 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. 4 And Jonathan took off the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt. 5 So David went out wherever Saul sent him, and [b]behaved wisely. And Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.
MESSAGE:
Christian teenagers build ties outside their families by getting involved in relationships that sometimes graduate from friendship to dating. While these relationships are an exciting time for you, they also come with their own issues and hazards.
There is a lot of growing up to do in all aspects of relationships, and having good guidance is essential because the relationships you keep are directly linked to fulfilling your destiny. If you build and keep the right ones, your journey becomes easier and lighter, while the wrong ones will either slow you down or take you off the path of life.
I advise that you network with people in places that look like where you are going. For example, if you wish to become the youngest l Vice-chancellor in Africa (which was my dream before the Lord called me into full-time ministry).
You should focus on relationships within the academic world and develop relationships with people who will encourage you to rise through the ranks. Also, don’t allow any friendship to graduate into dating now, as it will only distract you from fulfilling your goal and lead to sin.
REFLECTION
Are your relationships beneficial or detrimental to your destiny?
HYMN 19: JESUS LOVES ME! THIS I KNOW
1. Jesus loves me! this I know,
For the Bible tells me so;
Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak, but He is strong.
CHORUS
Yes, Jesus loves me,
Yes, Jesus loves me,
Yes, Jesus loves me,
The Bible tells me so.
2. Jesus loves me He who died,
Heaven’s gate to open wide,
He will wash away my sin,
Let His little child come in.
3. Jesus loves me, loves me still,
Tho’ I’m very weak and ill
From His shining throne on high
He will watch me where I lie.
4. Jesus loves me He will stay
Close beside me all the way,
If I love Him when I die
He will take me home on high.
