Title: Jehovah Jireh
Memorize: And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.” Genesis 22:14 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Genesis 22:13-14 (Nkjv)
[13] Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.
[14] And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”
Message:
The incident recorded in our Bible text for today was the first time God was called Jehovah Jireh.
Prior to that time, God gave Abraham a son in his old age. Then, to test Abraham’s faith in Him, He asked that he offer Isaac as a sacrifice to Him.
Abraham prepared the wood and bound Isaac, but God stopped him and showed him a ram as he was about to kill Isaac.
In awe, he called God Jehovah Jireh, which means, “God my provider.” I want you to know that you have a God who is a loving Father.
My beloved child, the same God that provided for Abraham and Hannah can still provide for you if only you can have faith.
He said, He cannot give you stone if you ask for bread, neither can He give you a snake if you ask Him for fish (Matthew 7:9-11).
He will provide all that you need, just have faith in Him and trust His timing. He cares for all His children, including you.
Confession:
For my God will supply all my needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus. Therefore, I lack nothing. God loads me daily with benefits. Glory!
HYMN 17 – THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS
1. “There shall be showers of blessing”
This is the promise of love;
There shall be season refreshing
Send from a savior above
Chorus:
Showers of blessing
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy drops round us are falling
But for the showers we plead.
2. “There shall be showers of blessing”
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys;
Sound of abundance of rain.
3. “There shall be showers of blessing”
Send them upon us Oh Lord!
Grant to us now a refreshing;
Come now and honor Thy Word.
4. “There shall be showers of blessing”
Oh, that today thy might fall,
Now as to God we are Confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call!
5. “There shall be showers of blessing”
If we but trust and obey;
There shall be season refreshing,
If we let God have his way.
