Title: Forgive
Memorize: casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Romans 12:19-21 (Nkjv)
[19] Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.
[20] Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.”
[21] Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Message:
When someone takes something you can never get back or hurts your feelings, you have three options: hold on to the hurt, revenge, or forgive. I implore you to choose the last option.
Beloved, it may be difficult to forgive when someone hurts you, but it is indeed the best choice because that is the only way to access God’s mercy and goodies. On the other hand, taking revenge might make you feel better, but in the long run, it will take a toll on your emotional and spiritual health. Refusing to forgive or let go of an offence is like hurting yourself a second time because you will go about with the weight of the wrong that was done to you. This weight will make it difficult to pray and worship God freely. Thus, it is not good for you to bear.
Forgiveness does not mean that the guilty fellow would be left unpunished; it only means that you are choosing peace above pride or self and you are doing things God’s way.
Key Point:
Forgive those who hurt you and experience lasting peace.
Hymn 45: O God Our Help In Ages Past
1 O God, Our Help In Ages Past
Our Hope For Years To Come
Our Shelter From The Stormy Blast
And Our Eternal Home
2 Under The Shadow Of Thy Throne
Thy Saints Have Dwelt Secure
Sufficient Is Thine Arm Alone
And Our Defence Is Sure
3 Before The Hills In Order Stood
Or Earth Received Her Frame
From Everlasting Thou Art God
To Endless Years The Same
4 A Thousand Ages In Thy Sight
Are Like An Evening Gone
Short As The Watch That Ends The Night
Before The Rising Sun
5 Time, Like An Ever-Rolling Stream
Bears All Its Sons Away
They Fly Forgotten, As A Dream
Dies At The Opening Day
6 O God, Our Help In Ages Past
Our Hope For Years To Come
Be Thou Our Guard While Trouble Last
And Our Eternal Home
