Title: Watch Out
Memorize: Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Mark 14:38 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Mark 14:34-38 (Nkjv)
[34] Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch.”
[35] He went a little farther, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him.
[36] And He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”
[37] Then He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Could you not watch one hour?
[38] Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Message:
Today’s memory verse is one of the warnings in the Bible that believers need to take seriouslų in order to survive in this dangerous and deceptive world.
To be watchful means to be alert, attentive, and cautious. Watchfulness requires being sober and careful.
You need to be watchful in your Walk with God so you Won’t fall into sin.
When a child of God is not watchful, his or her flesh begins to manifest, and this can lead to vices like pride, immorality, rebellion, disobedience, self-righteousness, and worldliness.
These vices do not appear overnight; they develop as a result of carelessness.
Therefore, it is important for believers to watch and pray in order to avoid falling into temptation that births sin.
My dear child, be watchful. Do not give the devil a chance to strike and lead you into sin.
The Bible admonishes that you should Work out your salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12).
Reflection:
Are there areas in your life where you need to be more watchful.
Bible Quiz:
What does it mean to be watchful as a Christian?
HYMN 27: WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS
1 What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
2 Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
3 Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there
