Title: Honor Your Parents
Memorize: Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Ephesians 6:1 (Nkjv
Bible Reading: Ephesians 6:1-3 (Nkjv)
[1] Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
[2] “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise:
[3] “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”
Message:
A long time ago, I was looking for a mentholated balm, and I accused my last child, who was five years old at the time. He said that he didn’t take it, but I insisted that he did. Rather than argue with me, he simply kept quiet and watched as I continued to look for the balm. About thirty minutes later, I found the balm in a corner of the room and was ashamed that I had accused the child wrongly. I swallowed my pride and apologised.
I know that parents are not always right, but you see, God did not give children a right to be rude to them. My son honoured me by not arguing with me; he remained calm. Unfortunately, many teenagers today lack this. Many of them argue with their parents, talk back at them, roll their eyes when they are being corrected, or shout at them. Some of them even insult or curse their parents; I hope you are not one of them.
The Bible sees any act of disobedience or rudeness to one’s parents as dishonour and it went further to say that any child who dishonours his or her parents will not live long. May you not die young, in Jesus’ name. Henceforth, honour your parents if you have been dishonouring them in any way.

HYMN 4: BE GLAD IN THE LORD AND REJOICE
1.Be glad in the Lord and rejoice,
All ye that are upright in heart;
And ye that have made him your choice,
Bid sadness and sorrow depart.
Refrain:
Rejoice, rejoice!
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice!
2.Be joyful, for He is the Lord,
On earth and in heaven supreme;
He fashions and rules by His word;
The Mighty and strong to redeem
3.What though in the conflict for right
Your enemies almost prevail,
God’s armies, just hid from your sight,
Are more than the foes which assail.
4.Though darkness surround you by day,
Your sky by the night be o’ercast,
Let nothing your spirit dismay,
But trust till the danger is past.
5.Be glad in the Lord and rejoice,
His praises proclaiming in song;
With harp, and with organ and voice
The loud hallelujahs prolong!
