Title: Sin Starts Small
Memorize: Can a man take fire to his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Proverbs 6:27 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading Proverbs 6: 27-29 (Nkjv):
[27] Can a man take fire to his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
[28] Can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be seared?
[29] So is he who goes in to his neighbor’s wife; Whoever touches her shall not be innocent.
Message:
People get tempted in the area of their weaknesses, but over the years, I have seen some believers get tempted from a point of strength, that is, where the object of temptation is not so attractive. The devil whispers to them to ignore the temptation seeing that it is not an area of their weakness. Unconsciously, the tempted begins to let down his/her guard, and the temptation grows stronger until it becomes irresistible.
Why would you communicate with the opposite sex every night under the guise of private tutorials, Bible study or a friendly call? Samson didn’t think he would fall, his strength got into his head. Many teenagers today who have strength become victims due to lack of wisdom. The devil will tell you that a little peck on the cheek or lips or caressing isn’t harmful, but the truth is that if you don’t run from the object of sin and immorality, you will eventually fall into it.
My dear, everything matters. Run when you should so that you won’t end up a victim of sin.
Key Point:
The best time to run away from temptation is when it is just unfolding.
Hymn 9: O Jesus I Have Promised
1 O Jesus, I have promised
to serve Thee to the end;
be Thou forever near me,
my Master and my Friend;
I shall not fear the battle
if Thou art by my side,
nor wander from the pathway
if Thou wilt be my Guide.
2 O let me feel Thee near me,
the world is ever near;
I see the sights that dazzle,
the tempting sounds I hear;
my foes are ever near me,
around me and within;
but, Jesus, draw Thou nearer,
and shield my soul from sin.
3 O let me hear Thee speaking
in accents clear and still,
above the storms of passion,
the murmurs of self-will;
O speak to reassure me,
to hasten or control!
O speak, and make me listen,
Thou Guardian of my soul!
4 O Jesus, Thou hast promised
to all who follow Thee
that where Thou art in glory
there shall Thy servant be;
and, Jesus, I have promised
to serve Thee to the end;
O give me grace to follow,
my Master and my Friend!
