Title: Caring For The Needy
Memorize: Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:10 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Matthew 25:34-40 (Nkjv)
[34] Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
[35] for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;
[36] I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
[37] “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?
[38] When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?
[39] Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’
[40] And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
Message:
It is a fact that no human being is self-sufficient; we all would, at one time or the other, need the help of others and, ultimately, God.
Therefore, if you want your prayers to be answered by God, you have to care for the poor and needy around you.
Today’s memory verse says that as we have opportunity, we should be a blessing to all human beings, especially those of the household of faith.
Anyone who heartlessly disregards the needs of the weak and helpless is wicked. Such a person will be ignored in the day of trouble, no matter how desperately he or she cries for help (Proverbs 21:13).
My dear child, when was the last time you helped the needy around you, gave to the poor around you, or visited the sick?
Apart from living a holy life, you also have a responsibility to feed the hungry, be hospitable to strangers, clothe the naked, care for the sick, and visit prisoners.
Action Point:
Do one of the activities (visit the prison, care for the sick, et cetera) listed above this week.
HYMN 27 – WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS
1 What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
2 Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
3 Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield
Thou wilt find a solace there
