Title: The Right Weapons
Memorize: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds 2 Corinthians 10:4 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Ephesians 6:12-18 (Nkjv)
[12] For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
[13] Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
[14] Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
[15] and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
[16] above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
[17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
[18] praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
Message:
There are three types of armies: the angelic or heavenly army (Luke 2:13), demonic armies (Ephesians 6:12), and human armies – navy, air force, paramilitary outfits, et cetera.
There is a constant conflict between the angelic or heavenly army and demonic armies.
For example, in Daniel 10:4-14, the demonic prince in charge of Persia blocked the angel that was sent to bring the answer to Daniel’s prayer for 21 days until God sent Angel Michael to assist him.
We cannot see demons with our physical eyes, but they can see us, and they are constantly plotting our downfall.
One major reason many people fall prey to the devil and his agents is that they try to fight spiritual battles with physical weapons.
Beloved, if you want to be victorious over the forces of darkness, you need to employ spiritual weapons.
These weapons are: worship (2 Chronicles 20:22), prayers (Ephesians 6:18), the word of God (Ephesians 6:17), love (Romans 12:20), and above them all, holiness (Proverbs 16:7).
Key Point:
Use the right weapon to fight spiritual battles so that you can win.
HYMN 12 – ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS
1. Onward, Christian soldiers,
marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before!
Christ, the royal Master,
leads against the foe;
Forward into battle, see his banner go!
Refrain:
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before!
2. At the name of Jesus
Satan’s host doth flee;
On, then, Christian soldiers,
on to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver
at the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices,
loud your anthems raise!
3. Like a mighty army
moves the church of God;
Brothers, we are treading
where the saints have trod;
We are not divided; all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.
4. Crowns and thrones may perish,
Kingdoms rise and wane;
But the church Jesus
constant will remain:
Gates of hell can never
‘gainst that church prevail
We have Christ’s own promise
and that cannot fail
5.Onward, then, ye people,
join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices,
in the triumph song;
Glory, praise and honour,
unto Christ the King;
This through countless ages,
men and angels sing.
