Memorize: Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Colossians 3:5 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Colossians 3:1-5 (Nkjv)
[1] If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.
[2] Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
[3] For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
[4] When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
[5] Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
Message:
To live in purity means to honor and glorify God by giving up the desires of one’s flesh (lust, greed, et cetera) and pursuing God’s will instead. Many people think that this is impossible, but I want you to know that it is possible. When I gave my life to Christ, He gradually changed my thirst and hunger for worldly things into fervent desire and passion for godly things.
When I hear debates on gospel and secular music, I know that the debaters are not mature in the Lord. This is because if you have the Holy Spirit in you, you Won’t engage in unnecessary debates. For example, I didn’t need to read in my Bible that listening to secular music is a sin. I used to be an ardent fan of Fela, a popular afrobeats musician in the 70s and 80s, and I bought all his albums. However, when I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ and kept having Bible study with my Father in the Lord, I knew that I had to stop listening to Fela’s songs.
Many teenagers debate spiritual matters because they don’t see it spelt out in the Scriptures; however, the Holy Spirit is there to guide us into all truths. My dear child, you can live a pure life if you open up your heart to the Holy Spirit and obey Him.

HYMN 61:TAKE THE NAME OF JESUS WITH YOU
1 Take the name of Jesus with you,
Child of sorrow and of woe.
It will joy and comfort give you,
Take it then where’er you go.
Chorus:
Precious name, O how sweet!
Hope of earth and joy of heaven;
Precious name, O how sweet!
Hope of earth and joy of heaven.
2 Take the name of Jesus ever
As a shield from evr’y snare;
If temptations ’round you gather,
Breathe that holy name in prayer.
3 Oh, the precious name of Jesus,
How it thrills our souls with joy,
When His loving arms receive us,
And His songs Our tongues employ!
4 At the name of Jesus bowing,
Falling prostrate at His feet
King of kings, in heaven we’ll crown Him
When our journey is complete.
