Title: Love Not The World
Memorize: Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 1 John 2:15 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: 1 John 2:15-17 (Nkjv)
[15] Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
[16] For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.
[17] And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
Message:
To love the world is to love material things and other worldly pleasures. It also means to follow the dictates of the world, even at the expense of one’s salvation.
Today, many young people love the world and its attractions, and they are ready to do anything to have the things the world offers.
For instance, in a bid to acquire worldly riches, some young boys get involved in armed robbery, ritual killings, and internet fraud, while some young girls engage in prostitution.
They lie and do all manner of abominable things just to feel accepted among their peers.
My dear child, an antidote for not loving the world is loving God genuinely and wholeheartedly.
Matthew 22:37 says, “…Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”
When you love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind, the love of the world will not find space in your heart.
Prayer Point:
Father, please help me to love You with the whole of my being.
HYMN 2: I AM THINE O LORD
1 I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
and it told Thy love to me;
but I long to rise in the arms of faith,
and be closer drawn to Thee.
Refrain:
Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
to the cross where Thou hast died;
draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
to Thy precious, bleeding side.
2 Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
by the pow’r of grace divine;
let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
and my will be lost in Thine. [Refrain]
3 O, the pure delight of a single hour
that before Thy throne I spend,
when I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,
I commune as friend with friend! [Refrain]
4 There are depths of love that I cannot know
till I cross the narrow sea;
there are heights of joy that I may not reach
till I rest in peace with Thee. [Refrain]
