Title: King Hezekiah
Memorize: He trusted in the Lord God of Israel, so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor who were before him. 2 Kings 18:5 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: 2 Kings 20:5-6 (Nkjv)
[5] “Return and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord.
[6] And I will add to your days fifteen years. I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for My own sake, and for the sake of My servant David.” ’ ”
Message:
Hezekiah was a remarkable leader who served as the king of Judah during a time of great crisis. His story is one of faith, obedience, and the power of prayer.
King Hezekiah was known for his unwavering faith in the Lord. He put his trust in God, and this set him apart from other kings.
King Hezekiah knew that the only way to find peace and comfort during difficult times was to turn to the Lord in prayer. From the Bible reading, we see the power of prayer in action.
King Hezekiah was ill, and he cried out to the Lord in prayer. He reminded God of his walk before Him. He was able to say this because he faithfully served God.
There will be times you will have to produce a strong case before God in the place of prayer. Isaiah 41:21 says, “Produce your strong reason…” Therefore, if you have no strong reason, what will you present?
My child, learn from Hezekiah, serve God faithfully so that when you pray, it will be effective and effectual.
Reflection:
How faithful are you serving God?
HYMN 8: Lead us heavenly father, lead us
1. Lead us, heavenly Father, lead us O’er the world’s tempestuous sea; Guard us, guide us, keep us, feed us, For we have no help but Thee, Yet possessing every blessing If our God our Father be.
2. Savior, breathe forgiveness o’er us; All our weakness Thou dost know; Thou didst tread this earth before us, Thou didst feel its keenest woe; Lone and dreary, faint and weary, Through the desert Thou didst go.
3. Spirit of our God, descending, Fill our hearts with heavenly joy, Love with every passion blending, Pleasure that can never cloy; Thus provided, pardoned, guided, Nothing can our peace destroy.
