Title: King Jehoash
Memorize: Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left. Isaiah 30:21
Bible Reading: 2 Kings 12:1-2
[1] In the seventh year of Jehu, Jehoash became king, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Zibiah of Beersheba.
[2] Jehoash did what was right in the sight of the Lord all the days in which Jehoiada the priest instructed him.
Message:
Jehoash was indeed very young when he became king. Thankfully, he had a good mentor, Jehoiada, who counselled him to do what was right in God’s sight.
One of the most remarkable achievements during his reign was gathering money from the people so that the temple could be rebuilt.
When the Levites did not rebuild the temple as soon as the funds arrived, Jehoash commanded them to begin work immediately.
One would think that he would be timid due to his age, but he had the backing of elders who encouraged him to obey the Lord.
His enthronement and boldness show that there is no age limit with God. God can call anyone at any age to fulfil His purpose.
For instance, Abraham was 75 years old when he started walking with God.
As a teenager, you must prayerfully look for mentors who will help you get closer to God, mould your character, and groom your confidence, self- esteem, interpersonal skills, and goal getting skills so that you will fulfil your destiny.
Key Point:
Being young should not limit you from fulfilling God’s purpose for your life.
HYMN 16 – BREATHE ON ME, BREATH OF GOD
1. Breathe on me, Breath of God;
Fill me with life anew,
That I may love what Thou dost love,
And do what Thou wouldst do.
2. Breathe on me, Breath of God:
Until my heart is pure,
Until with Thee I will one will,
To do and to endure.
3. Breathe on me, Breath of God
Till I am wholly Thine,
Until this earthly part of me
Glows with Thy fire divine.
4. Breathe on me, Breath of God;
So shall I never die,
But live with Thee the perfect life
Of Thine eternity.
